Chalavie's Mirrored Art Opens Your Perspectives at the Mar Vista Art Walk - Open Studios in Los Angeles June 1st, 2017

“I don't think I change people's lives with my art, people change themselves but I hope it helps people realize that there is not just one way to look at things and be aware of Perspectives,” says Chalavie. “I'm currently working on making my paintings alive and interactive by adding mirrors to it. I'm really happy with the outcome and I can't wait to share”.

Meet Chalavie, an Artist Painter who comes to Los Angeles by way of Armentieres, a small town in northern France with an interesting history for impressively rebuilding itself after it's demise first in the Middle Ages and then again after the First World War. Chalavie has planted roots in LA for the last 12 years and lives as a full-time Artist, working out of her Art Studio located in Mar Vista. She is there during the week by appointment and open to the public every Sunday from 10am to 2pm during the Mar Vista Farmers Market happening down the street.

She began over 20 years ago with watercolors, oils and pastels but lately has been working more with acrylic and other media, “I like to experiment and keep it moving. My art grows all the time. I think there are different approaches to creating , it can come from a spontaneous idea or from reflecting a little longer. Sometimes you just have to start something and the rest follows. I used to think a lot about the message of the painting , now I tend to focus more on developing my own techniques and moves. I use paint but not only- I like to build and experiment too. What makes a painting more than a painting? How do I make my painting alive ? That 's the idea I'm trying to develop right now”.
